Job Description Summary:
The Community Marketing Specialist is responsible for identifying and pursuing
opportunities to introduce the community to the value of our products and services
and ultimately to create life-long customers. This is an active, public and
self-assertive relationship-building role that is results driven with measureable,
significant and permanent increases in sales. This position works primarily
outside of the North Dallas/ Richardson store or office on all marketing activities,
and liaisons with multiple home office departments to ensure dissemination of
information about the unique health education services, affordable supplements
and natural health food products offered at Natural Grocers. This position requires
occasional travel to other Natural Grocers stores to support events and provide
training.
Responsibilities
- Creates and implements plans to access and reach out to Dallas/Fort Worth
community groups to create store awareness.
- Develops and maintains customer relationships with media outlets, schools,
universities, government agencies, businesses and community organizations
that serve diverse populations.
- Markets to these organizations and attends other marketing events in order
to actively establish new customers and maintain customer awareness.
- Meets or exceeds all sales growth targets.
- Liaison with Home Office marketing department and PR agencies to coordinate
efforts.
- Builds ways to promote Vitamin Cottage brand through multiple online social
media venues such as MySpace, Facebook and Twitter.
- Weekly reporting accountability to include:
- Analysis and evaluation of the effectiveness of marketing methods, costs
and results.
- Measurement of risk vs. reward to capitalize on failures as well as
successes.
- Tracking actual vs. budgeted expenses.
- Maintains a flexible work schedule to participate in community events including
evenings and weekends as needed
- Act as on-the-ground presence for Home Office in various capacities as
needed.
- Implement in-store and field events in conjunction with stores and marketing
partners.
- Document marketing program overall and in parts to package for repeatable
delivery.
- Support other stores community marketing efforts using similar strategies
and tactics
- Provide training and event support to other stores remotely and on site
as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Currently involved with and an active member of the North Dallas/ Richardson
community; accomplished community activist and promoter who is comfortable
and adept at interacting and networking with members of all communities.
- 2+ years experience in a public relations, community outreach and/or social
media marketing capacity.
- Graphic design including web design experience preferred.
- Ability to use basic HTML tools to update web sites.
- Extremely creative, self directed and self focused within area of responsibility
and a defined scope of operations. Able to deal effectively with ambiguity
and have good judgment within complicated and changing environments. Comfortable
being directed by multiple departments and constituents.
- Preference for natural products with knowledge of vitamins and supplements.
- Team player who works well across the organization and effectively collaborates
with home office departments on planned marketing activities.
- Well organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Polished, professional image.
- Retail experience preferred.
- College degree preferred.
- Valid drivers license, car, auto insurance.
- Travel in state 6-12 times per year for 2-7 days at a time.
- Travel out of state up to two times per year for one week.
